A quick share this week…

What I would say is “real” spring is finally here. I feel more energized to do things now, and here are some of the pretty things I have been keeping myself busy with:

I tried making the Filipino Brazo de Mercedes cake because I craved it and have nowhere to buy it from here in Norway, and to practice for an upcoming event where I promised to share it. The name apparently translates to “Arm of Our Lady of Mercy”. I don’t know why we have a Spanish name for the cake, but I suppose it comes with the Spanish influence after all the years they were in our country. I did not use a mixer to make it because we don’t have one, so it took a good hour to whip the meringue, but it thankfully turned out fine. I used the recipe from Yeast Mode Philippines. I might try to make them into cupcakes next time instead of a roll.

Another thing we don’t have at home yet is a garden, which we hope we can work on this spring and the next. In the meantime, we have been picking flowers from my in-laws. We also only have tall flower vases so far, so we housed these easter lilies in a beer glass for now, ha!

In other news, I just bought some crochet hooks and yarn from Hobbi Norway. I used to crochet back in school and thought of taking it up again now. I am looking forward to my first project!
